Sangha
'Sangha' means community in Sanskrit. We all need community and long to share what we can offer to the world in understanding, love and compassion. Yoga is the same. Nobody can truly practice the path of yoga alone.
To make yoga accessible to as many as possible, I founded Yoga at Girton, an initiative at Cambridge University that offers yoga at different levels for free. I also volunteer to teach yoga to teenagers, underprivileged women, migrant workers and addiction recovering communities at Society for Community Organization, The Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers and other non-profit organisations in Hong Kong.

Becoming increasingly aware of the experience of BAME communities in the UK, I completed training to become a volunteer community champion for On Your Side and End Violence and Racism Against East and South-east Asian Communities (EVR) in July 2024. Apart from championing the Cultural Competence Training programme to Cambridge colleges and institutions, I will also be teaching free community yoga to raise awareness for the ESEA support services available in the UK. These classes will be available in various locations in Cambridge and details will be shared here once they are ready to roll out.
Although you might not be a qualified yoga teacher, you can share the gift of yoga by inviting your friends and family to a yoga class, sending them an article or video about mindfulness, helping those who are in need and simply by being a more loving, joyful, peaceful and compassionate person. Love and peace are contagious. By being our best selves, we are also lifting up the vibrations of those we spend time with. This is called karma yoga. We can all be karma yogis!

This is a page where I will share with you the value of community in cultivating more happiness within and beyond ourselves. Stay tuned!
